The AI Era May Reward a Different Kind of Professional.

Many professionals are unknowingly training themselves to become replaceable.
- Heads down execution.
- Take direction if given or else wait.
- Sit through meetings trying not to look stupid.
- Stopping at “I tried” without truly attempting to crack the problem.
And, the AI era is breaking this very quickly.
The professionals becoming more valuable are usually different. They...
- think before meetings and continue long after meetings end.
- scribble. Ideate. Whiteboard.
- redraw their own thinking.
- question themselves before questioning others.
- observe patterns others miss.
- reconnect dots.
- continue asking sharp questions.
- take charge when clarity is missing.
You can usually sense the difference immediately. There is a spark in them. A deep self-driven urge to crack something meaningful.
Not a desperate rush toward AI and agentic systems hoping some magic will just happen.
But experience design maturity comes before agentic maturity. If not, organisations may simply automate weak thinking at greater scale. The people thinking deeply today are avoiding that, hopefully.
Thinking first for speed.
This way of working has remained deeply embedded inside YUJ over years, and continues to shape what we impart through the yuj.dna design leadership program today.
